Pick up Your tickets!

November 02, 2011 Posted by

For those that signed up for a game or more at MACE 2011 through OGRe:

MACE 2011 uses a Ticket system for registering for games and those of you that have preregistered online will have tickets at the gaming registration table waiting for you. Look for the file box with the OGRe logo on it.

Some games may not require the tickets or have their own registration system (like RPGA) but we just ask you to pick up your tickets regardless. For those games that use the ticket system, you get priority with those tickets.

It will be clear on the poster board schedule what games take tickets and what games do not require them. Even if the tickets are not used for your games, they are good to use for a personal schedule.

If you have any questions, email me.

Thanks

Ticket System

October 27, 2011 Posted by

From the Player's Perspective

This past year since MACE west, I have been testing out a ticket system at game registration.  It has been tweaked after MACE West and further tweaked after ConCarolinas and I think have it ready for MACE.

People that use OGRe to preregister can pick up their tickets at Game Registration.  They will be in a black file box with the OGRe logo on it.  Please pick those up.

GMs have been told to show priority to ticket holders.  If you don't have a ticket, you will have to wait until all ticket holders arrive or 15 minutes after the game, which ever comes first.

The tickets are good until 15 minutes after the game starts, so be ON TIME.  The GM does not have time to wait on you and I think 15 minutes is rather generous.

Onsite tickets will be available near the schedule posters.  Some games may nto require tickets but all will show priority to preregistration tickets.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note.

MACE 2011 to host a Serenity LARP

October 24, 2011 Posted by

We are happy to report that in place of the Steampunk LARP that a Carl Little, Jessica Lindsay and friends have agreed to run a Serenity LARP as our Saturday Day LARP. This runs on the heals of a very successful Serentiy LARP at ConCarolinas. Player limit is 20. The Game is open for preregistration on OGRe.

With the news of Miranda, and the origins of the Reavers revealed, the planets are in quite a tizzy. The Rim planets are fairly unified against the Alliance, but are lacking, in arms as well as a target. The Border worlds, have the best of both worlds. Please note the sarcasm. Being closer to the center, they not only get the goods to arm such a rebellion, but they also get a target. The Alliance outposts scattered across the Border planets have their hands full of troublesome sorts, just aching to exact a little revenge for years of living under oppressive meddlers.

The Core planets, however, seem blissfully unaware of such unease. Whether is do to the rigid control of the Alliance, or a deliberate ignorance, it’s unclear. What is clear is the crystal they drink their fancy wines in. And it’s also clear that the social life of Londinum isn’t going to suffer at the whims of a few unhappy dirt farmers. Politics are played at by the bureaucrats, and large, lavish engagements parties are still the thing.

General Tiberius Wyndham is announcing the long awaited betrothal of his only daughter, Alexandra. Her intended is a rising star in the military himself, Major Giles Hart. Everybody who is anybody knows that, but only the crème de la crème are invited.

But the marriage may already be on the rocks. Despite the best efforts and security that money can buy, some undesirables have managed to make their way on to the guest lists. Who they are, and what they are up to remains a mystery. All in all, it should be one mighty fine shindig.

Games From The Grave is heavily encouraging participation in the convention’s food drive. Show us either the goods you intend to donate, or some indication that you donated, and your character will start off with three additional Drama Points. Thanks!

Any questions and what not can be sent to gamesfromthegrave@gmail.com

October 20, 2011 Posted by

We aree sorry to report that due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, the planned Steampunk LARP at MACE is cancelled. The group behind it sends its regrets but as we all know, life does happen and sometimes it does keep us from our hobby related obligations. We have always said at MACE... family first. Ticket System Update

October 07, 2011 Posted by

Note for GMs

This is a reminder and an update at the same time

Some of you saw me test this out at MACE West and at ConCarolinas.

Playes will use tickets to sign up for most games and keep up with their schedule.  I am using this system to reduce the problems we had with sign up books and ensure that people that bothered to preregister get priority.  Some games will be ticket games while others are not.

General walk-up games, demo games, player's choice sessions, game library games, pick up games and other fairly casual games will not require tickets.  If you are running any game like this, all I ask is that you show prioirty to those with tickets.  This ususally means they signed up for your game online.

Also tournaments and other events that might have their own reigstration or sign up system won't require tickets.  Again, all I ask is that you show prioirty to anyone that has a ticket.

Table RPGs, some specificallly scheduled board games, some tournaments, and simiarly scheduled games with limited seats all are games that require tickets.

For games that require tickets -

  1. First and foremost - Please show priority to those with tickets.  I want to make sure that people that signed up for a seat at your table get that seat.
  2. One Site tickets must be signed by me or one of my gaming coodinator assistants to be valid.
  3. Once you have the ticket and the player has taken his seat, the ticket is garbage.  You as the GM don't have to do anything with it other than throw it away.

There are some rare exceptions to this ticket system.  For instance, if a game does not make, can a person sit in on another game.  The answer to that is, yes, if and only if there are open seats and they would have to check with gaming reg to find that out.  Just remember, show priority to ticket holders.

One of the problems we ran into at MACE West is GMs finding out if their game has players or not.  First look at the schedule poster boards.  If you have a red sticker, not only do you have players but it is full.  Otherwise, ask some one at gaming registration.  The books will not be open and available for people to look at.  You will have to ask.

If you have any questions, please email me.

MACE 2012 Possible Move

August 15, 2011 Posted by

IF we move to Charlotte

I know it is early to be thinking about 2012, but I have a few statements.

1) Due to issues we have had at the hotel this year (SPACE and ROOMS) we are looking once again at a move to Charlotte. I know some do not want us to move and others are begging for it. We are 99% done on this deal. I just have to finalize the contract and it will be a go. (unless of course the hotel begs me to stay and gives me lots of cash)

2) With the move, we will still have the Grinning Goblin supplying food and drinks. Does this work for everyone? In Charlotte, the regular food supply is closer, but we will work with local vendors to get you sandwiches, pizza, snacks and drinks at the usual GG price. Do you think you will still use the GG for your food needs? Is it more important to have it fairly quick and convenient than a few minutes walk away from the hotel?

3) The rates for the sleeping rooms will go up. But when you add in the cost of the room plus parking at the BW, the Hilton is only a few dollars more since it has free parking. (prices based on current room rates and parking costs)

Let me know how you guys feel about this.

Thanks,

Jeff

Dark Triad: Greensboro Massacre

November 3 1979: Racial and political tensions reach a boiling point as violence erupts between white supremecists and the Communist Workers Party, leaving five African-Americans dead while the predominantly white local government is seemingly unable to keep the peace. As rioting erupts throughout Greensboro and threatens the nearby cities of Winston-Salem and High Point  the secret supernatural masters of the Triad gather to attempt to bring their mortal thralls back under their control before they turn the  cities to ash, while ferreting out just which mad puppetmaster is behind the violence.  Is this the opening move in a new shadow war? Can the mortals be stopped before critical areas of the city are burned? Can the distrust between the supernaturals in the Triad be put aside long enough to save the Three Cities or will they use the flames to attack one another?

Will you survive the Greensboro Massacre?

Will you be the first to perish?

New Ticket System

Testing Something New Out

I sent this email out to all those preregistered and GMs....

Hello,

You are getting this email because you either (1) preregistered for a game at MACE West or (2) you are a GM at MACE West. Some of you have been to MACE before while some have not. Without getting into too much detail, I am trying something new to make things simpler at MACE events. MACE West is going to be my testing ground.

There are a a variety of types of games and not all will need tickets but in general, I am going to implement a ticket system.

What games need tickets?

Regular Scheduled Games (primarily RPGs), Tournaments and Special Events only require tickets. That's mostly regular RPGs, tournements and scheduled board games. Basically those games on the schedule with limited seats.

Games that do not need tickets - RPGA, PFS, and SRM because they have their own system. Also board game or card game demos, open play games, player's choice games and anything that can run as a pick up. Empire Games, for instance, won't need tickets.

So if you are only playing RPGA, PFS, SRM living campaign/mmrpg games, you don't have to worry about tickets, although they do help as personal schedules. Sorry, I had to include you because I can't really filter everyone out.

Where do I get my tickets?

I will have a 3X5 card boxes with your tickets in them. Look your tickets up by your last name.

What about signing up on site?

I will have sign up forms for players to fill out. If the game is not full, I will comfirm that registration and the player can keep the form as your ticket.

GMs for those games that require tickets will not allow anyone without a ticket to play. Please keep that in mind. We have had problems with people just sitting down at a game and bumping out people that prereg'ed for the game. I am trying to prevent that.

This is all part of an effort ot make the sign up system I have easier and faster. People crowded around a sign up book has frustrated people and so I am going to try redirect that to better system.

I hope this all makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.

Highest prereg rate on record!

Slowly the day draws near and soon we will converge on to Golden Corral to game and eat. This year has proven to be a great year for our little gaming and food event. As of today, we have 48 preregistrations! Usually by this time, we are begging people to preregister so we don't have to cancel. Now it look like we may have to borrow the second private room at the GC. We may get temporary use of it but when it gets busy, we may have to vcacate it to allow regular costumers to use it. Tahnks for making mini-mace 2011 the best on yet.

MACE West 2011 Finalized

December 10, 2010 Posted by

There's nothing like a good piece of Hickory.

MACE West is born of a demand by some Hickory region gamers who felt that the MACE concept would do well in Hickory. Jeff worked with Clint and Jodie Black of Pinnacle Entertainment Group to organize a smaller 3-day event of gaming and fun. We had Justus Productions are proud to say that the final steps have been made to bring MACE West to fruition.

MACE West, AKA CUDGEL (Carolinas Unique Diversified Gaming Expo Limited) will be March 25-27, 2011 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Hickory NC. Although it will be smaller than MACE in High Point, it will be much more than our regular mini-mace events. We plan to have a variety of games, including a full slate of Savage World events including a Savage Saturday Night event.

If you interested in running a game, please click the Contact link and email the Gaming Coordinator expressing your interest in running. Our usually rule of three applies for this event.
