Players Choice Board/Card GamesPlayers Choice Board/Card GamesDay/Time: Saturday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM In Board Game Room GM:Brian Olin, Game Event Type: Board Game General Play Notes:: Table will select from a choice of board games including; Settlers of Catan (including Cities and Knights), Elfenland, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Agricola, and Pandemic. | PLAYERS CHOICE/DEMO GAME LIST | Agricola(Number of Players:5 - In Agricola (Latin for "farmer"), you're a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. On a turn, you get to take only two actions, one for you and one for the spouse, from all the possibilities you'll find on a farm: collecting clay, wood or stone; building fences; and so on. You might think about having kids in order to get more work accomplished, but first you need to expand your house. And what are you going to feed all the little rugrats?
Agricola is a turn-based game. There are 14 game turns plus 6 harvest phases (after turn 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14). Each player starts with two playing tokens (farmer and wife) and thus can take two actions per turn. There are multiple options, and while the game progresses, you'll have more and more: first thing in a turn, a new action card is flipped over.
Problem: Each action can be taken just once per turn, so it's important to do some things with high preference. Each player also starts with a hand of 7 Occupation cards (of more than 160 total) and 7 Minor Improvement cards (of more than 140 total) that he may use during the game if they fit in his/her strategy. This amounts to countless strategies, some depending on your card hand. Sometimes it's a good choice to stay on course, sometimes you better react on what your opponents do.
Agricola can also be played without cards (family game) and can even be played solo.
Carcasonne(Number of Players:5 - The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious.
Elfenland(Number of Players:6 - Most races involve horses or cards, but in Elfenland players control young elves, who must traverse their fantasy land with all sorts of strange transportation such as giant pigs and unicorns. Each player must visit every city on the map and seek to find the best route for the modes of transportation that they use, while attempting to hinder the others in this light, interactive game. Players place tokens on routes with restrictions because of terrain and then use cards to attempt to finish quicker than the other players.
Winner of the 1998 Spiel des Jahres, Elfenland has been played for years as a top-rated family game.
Pandemic(Number of Players:4 - Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out.
Players must work together, playing to their characters' strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks.
A truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.
Puerto Rico(Number of Players:5 - In 1493 Christopher Columbus discovered the eastern-most island of the Great Antilles. About 50 years later, Puerto Rico began to really blossom -- through you! Which roles will you play in this new world: Prospector? Governor? Settler? Trader? Whatever you do, you have one goal: to achieve the greatest prosperity and highest reputation! Who will have the most fruitful plantation? Who will build the most impressive buildings? And, who will earn the most victory points?
Settlers of Catan(Number of Players:5 - Play an immigrant on the newly populated island of Catan. Build settlements, roads, and villages by taking commodities from the land around you. Turn a sheep, lumber ,rocks and some grain into a settlement, bricks and wood into road, or try to complete other combinations for more advanced buildings and services. Take advantage of trades with other players, or at local seaports to get commodities you might lack. The first player to gain 10 points from a combination of roads, settlements, and special cards wins.

It started with a young man calling himself The Brain, who arrived at League Mansion claiming extreme danger to the League members from the arch criminal Doctor Depraved. Then the disappearing began: First the Incredible Zip. Then Ultrababe. Then the Flying Mouse. No ransom notes. No claimed responsibility. They all just vanish into thin air. This is all that is known. The last hero to vanish was the super-intelligent Doctor Supernova. His last action before vanishing was to send a message to all the sidekicks of the world?s heroes to meet at the League?s mansion. You all did so. Let the game begin? Once you arrive and find a safe place to rest, a windowless tower shimmers into being in the near distance as the sun winks out over the smoldering mountains to the West. It's ground level doorway lies open, inviting unobstructed entry. Only darkness is within. A dark storm begins to brew, and the more its torrential winds increase, the better the tower looks for shelter. But what if it leaves? Where will it take you? Who or what is inside? There is only one way to know for certain, and you won't get rich licking your wounds… |

In the beginning they were one, but something went wrong. Some in the North say the Wintry cowards to the South betrayed one of the original founders, selling her back to her Fae Lord in exchange for power. Those in the South vehemently deny this, and state that it was the brash and violent Summer lords of the North, who fabricated charges against the founder, and slew the helpless girl for their own gains. And so the feud goes, the Northern Reach staying on their side of the river, and the Bitter Hearth doing likewise. And woe to any who find themselves on the wrong side of where their loyalties lie. While troubling, the war between the two freeholds is a cold one. While not peaceful, neither side is willing to take the next step. Even the Summer court realizes that the clamor of such a war would be like sweet, sweet honey to the flies that are the Fae-Lords of Arcadia. Alas, this tenuous peace has grown brittle and frail. The Lord Marauder of Sleet and Ash has laid siege to Ember Falls, demanding restitutions for wrongs committed by Changelings therein. He claims a motley crept into His Realm, and stole from Him several things. Things He wants back at any cost. His armies of hobs scour the Hedge, eager for an interloper, and his title of Sleet is not for show as an ice storm the likes of which have not been seen have the city on her knees. He has given the changelings of Ember Falls until Midnight on Saturday to return to Him what was stolen, lest He raze the town in his search. Return to Him the thieves, and the that freehold will be spared. Return both, and that freehold will be richly rewarded.Unfortunately there is little else to go on. What was taken? Which of the changelings took it? Those who know seem to be keeping silent for the moment, but time is running out for all. These questions are just as haunting for some as to what should be done about the impending doom of Ember Falls… * * * * * * * * * * * Games From The Grave is doing something a little different this year. Usually this is where you read about a price for participating in the game. This time we are asking for food. There will be bins for canned/packaged goods in good condition, properly labeled, and not expired to go to a local food bank Sunday after the LARP wrap-up. We are asking for a couple of cans instead of a few bucks, which in the grand scheme of things is less that the usual 10, or 5, dollar price tag. If you forget your groceries, we will take cash if you are so inclined to give, and donate it alongside the food goods. There will be prizes so be sure to dress the part, play your character to the hilt, and most importantly have fun! If you wish to contact us with questions, comments, and so on, please direct all emails to-Gamesfromthegrave@gmail.com World of Darkness LARP:The World of Darkness (or WoD) is the name given to two related but distinct fictional universes developed by Mark Rein-Hagen. Both World of Darkness settings have been used for several horror fiction-themed role-playing games that make use of the Storytelling System. These include Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, and Changeling: The Dreaming. A live action role-playing game (LARP or LRP) is a form of role-playing game where the participants perform some or all of the physical actions of the characters they are playing within a pre-determined space for a pre-determined span of time. LARP may be considered a form of improvisational theatre. |

Lazy blue smoke rings crawl across a dark carved wood panel to the lulling chug-chug rhythm of the paddle-wheel, punctuated by low jazz filtering in from the ballroom and the snap-crackle of dice and cards and eruptive laughter. Illegal cigar smells mingle with subtle incense and liquor and Asian spices and silk and power, drawing out saliva almost in protest...almost. Power brokers from all over the world come to the Jaded Dragon to satisfy exotic tastes, broker back-room deals, and gamble their extreme holdings against the odds. Once a year the riverboat hosts one of the biggest parties on the river, and this year you have been invited. Should you decide to attend, you will be provided a pre-generated character with dress and affect recommendations; this description also comes with goals and flaws and a few simple abilities to help you along the way (and the rules for using them, which are short). You may have allies. You will certainly have enemies. The boat launches promptly on November 13th, 2010 at 8 PM. Portraits, Live Action Murder Mystery:Live Action Murder Mystery |

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Untold (Card-based RPG)The Untold (Card-based RPG)Day/Time: Saturday 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM In Colonial GM:Charles Fodel, Game Event Type: RPG - Role Playing Game General Play The Untold (Card-based RPG):What is Untold? Untold is a revolutionary new role-playing game (RPG) from Wandering Men Studios designed to combine all the best elements of Role Playing Games (RPG`s) and Collectible Card Games (CCG`s) but leave out all the unnecessary complications. Untold is a CBRPG (™): Card-Based Role Playing Game. It is exactly the same as any other RPG, but the primary physical "tools" of the game are different. Instead of rulebooks and character sheets, the only "tools" you need in Untold are cards! That`s right - only cards - cards which are used to construct characters, represent their skills, abilities, items, powers and moves, as well as contain all of the rule references necessary to play the game! In Untold, there are no rulebooks, gazetteers, or guides to purchase, read and try to remember. Your character is a deck of cards - and all the rules that filled a library full of books before is now on a set of beautifully illustrated cards! All you need to play Untold is a deck and a die! Untold was created to be fast, flexible, furious, and fun. The game is amazingly fast when you want to build and change characters - a task that can now be done in seconds thanks to the card-based system as well as the unique card swapping mechanics. Combat in Untold is especially furious and visceral thanks to the unique way damage is accounted for - something called "Downgrading". The underlying task of Untold`s designers has been to take the toil out of playing RPGs and put the fun back in. As such, every single thing the guys over at Wandering Men Studios have done during the development of Untold has been driven by this maxim. |
