MACE 2019 UNPUB – Three Fronts
MACE 2019 will once again host several brilliant game designers and publishers attending for the sole purpose of demoing and play testing their unpublished games. We feel very privileged and honored that these fine designers would use MACE as a testing ground for their ideas.
The latest Unpublished play test is a game called Three Fronts.
Three Fronts is a strategic 2-player card game in a medieval war setting. You are a general who must strategically deploy your forces in order to win an epic war using your skill, cleverness, and a little bit of luck. Position your army through early skirmishes so that you can defeat your foe in the final Showdown!
Gameplay elements: card management, trick taking, hidden information
The game takes place across 3 rounds. The objective of each round is to win battles by committing more troops to the battle than your opponent. Because there are 3 different fronts where battles take place, players must choose where they want to commit their forces. When a player wins a battle in the first 2 rounds, they gain a valuable resource, but can’t use the cards from that battle in future rounds. In the final round, each player uses their remaining cards along with the resources they have accrued to defeat their opponent once and for all.
After over a year of refinement, Three Fronts is ready for its first public playtest at MACE 2019. If you like games that emphasize deep strategy, balancing short-term and long-term rewards, and ability to think on your feet, give it a try!
