James F. Kelly, otherwise known as the The Tabletop Engineer on Youtube, will be attending MACE again in 2020. James’ channel is devoted to the creation of game terrain for fantasy, science fiction, and other game genres. Original terrain designs are shared along with those inspired by existing products. Where appropriate, tools such as a 3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC machine are used to enhance projects.
At MACE 2020, he will be running the following in-person games
FRIDAY 8 PM
Call of Cthulhu
Players will take on the roles of 1930s era investigators who stumble upon an ancient evil in the small city of Arkham, Massachusetts. No experience required. Rules will be taught and pre-rolled character options will be provided. I will be using the Pulp Cthulhu rules expansion that beefs up the investigators to HEROES who have a better chance of surviving… but not much. Game does involve horror elements.
Saturday 2 PM
For beginners or those new to D&D. Players will be provided with pre-rolled character options and the rules will be taught as the game moves forward. Perfect for young kids, too. The adventure will have some scary elements but not too extreme horror elements. The adventure will be a typical dungeon crawl and last between 2-3 hours.
Sunday 9 AM
4 players (2 teams, 2v2)
Players must bring their own Level 1 Wizard/Apprentice and Warband miniatures. 2nd Edition rules will be used and I will provide terrain for the game. Game should last between 2-4 hours.

About D&D Adventurers League
The D&D Adventurers League is an ongoing official organized play campaign for Dungeons & Dragons. It uses the fifth edition of the Dungeons & Dragons rules, and features the Forgotten Realms setting. You can play D&D Adventurers League games at any place that features adventures bearing the D&D Adventurers League logo. You can create a character and bring that character to games anywhere D&D Adventurers League is supported.
Most D&D Adventurers League games are public, in-person play events. Typical venues for these events are game and hobby stores, conventions, and public-accessible game day events.
If you would like to run games or volunteer for MACE 2020, please contact us as soon as you can. Time is running out. Due to COVID 19, space is limited. The Convention is Preregistration Only. Gaming is Preregistration Only. Masks will be required at all tables. No onsite registration will be provided.

REGULAR SCHEDULE GAMES: For those that wish to propose scheduled events for MACE 2020, the best way to do that is through OGRe. Go to ogre.justusproductions.com. Log in (Make an account if you don’t have one. If you were a GM for us at any point in time since 2006, you more than likely have an account.). Click Propose Event on the left menu.
If you prefer to email us at , please include as much information about your event as possible. It is sort of a hassle to go back and forth with questions with so many GMs. Include game name and any link that will explain the game and/or provide the description, especially if it is a obscure game. Also include schedule preferences keeping in mind our standard 4 hr. slot schedule (although you are not limited to that schedule).
Three 4-hour sessions or 12 hours of gaming gets you in free, with fewer getting you a discount. See our discount policy on our web site at justusproductions.com for information on the discounts.
For MACE 2020 (and perhaps the future) we are providing the option for people to play games virtually on our schedule. The games will be run virtually by the GM and anyone that pays for a virtual ticket can sign up ahead of time to play them.
GMs can make proposals as normal through OGRe. Please note in the proposal notes that the game is Virtual – like THIS IS A VIRTUAL GAME. Everything involved in running the game virtually will be the GM’s responsibility and the GM must provide the specific instructions on how to join that game in the game proposal descriptions.
Players who wish to attend games virtually can either attend MACE and play virtually from the hotel, or play virtually from home after paying for a virtual ticket in registration.
Every virtual game will be allocated to the Virtual Gaming location in OGRe.
Here is some updated info on MACE. We are still in a state of planning, but with the news from Governor Cooper, we can now offer more people the opportunity to attend. Please take a moment to read. If you have not registered to play, please do so. If you have not signed up to run, please do so. And make your room reservation. We need you to do this so that we have a good idea of number. MACE will be pre-reg (both as an attendee and for games) only this year, so please make your plans as soon as you can. I hope you will be able to attend. i am looking forward to seeing all of you. CHANGES IN RED
Attendance – Limited to 300
All attendees will be pre-registered. There will still be no walk-up registrations. The Attendee List includes GMs, Dealers, Players and Staff.
Games will be pre-registered for in OGRe. We may have some Play to Win or Open Tables, but a lot will depend on how many people register, if any games are sent, and what tables we can have open. To keep away from bunching up and to create the social distance, we will have posters in several locations showing what games are being played in specific rooms.
The new room numbers have opened it for more dealers to be allowed in. I will limit it to 2 rooms of 10 dealers. But this will give us more room for these guys to show their wares.
Table Sizes and Players
We will use mostly rounds, but will have some 6’ tables in use. Each table will only accommodate 5 chairs (1 GM and 4 Players). Some rooms will be for RPGs and some will be for Board Games. There will be a max of 5 tables per room.
There may be a limit on the number of GMs we can have as well as more restrictions on the type of games we can run. We need to make sure that the games being run are games that will fill so that we do not have empty tables.
Game Slots and Time
We are still looking at 2 options for gaming this year. We have the possibility of starting games on Thursday night. All games would need to end at midnight to give the hotel crew time to clean each room. A decision on this will be made soon. In order to add the Thursday night games, we need enough GMs to fill those and the regular slots.
OPTION 1: 1 slot on Thursday, 3 on Friday, 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
OPTION 2: the more traditional, 2 on Friday, 3 On Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
We will not be setting up the Grinning Goblin this year. There are many restaurants close by and we will have breaks between slots. I wish we could set it up, but health and safety reasons, we have decided not to this year.
Masks will be required this year. I will see if the hotel as something about its policy on MASKS. What they say is what we do.
